Langate created a web-based platform and mobile app for iOS and Android with facial recognition. Through this, we were able to prevent duplicate subjects in clinical databases and contribute to more efficient healthcare database management.
Our client wanted to further develop their toolset for accurate subject identification through a facial recognition feature. They searched for a development company with deep expertise in healthcare technology and discovered Langate. Based on our experience, they chose to work with us.
Our client helps healthcare organizations better store and manage clinical data through the prevention of both duplicate subjects and key protocol violations. Their main aim is to facilitate accurate and safe data management while saving time and money for healthcare providers, researchers, and other stakeholders.
Eliminating Duplicate Subjects
Patients with duplicate profiles tend to have incomplete records due to inconsistent updates. This can cause treatments to be ineffective, inaccurate, and potentially dangerous. Clinicians sometimes have to re-administer treatments as a result and spend twice as much time and effort monitoring the patient.
Identify Verification for Subjects
Remote access to clinical data has become increasingly sought-after, especially since the pandemic when hospital visits and physical contact were limited. Healthcare professionals couldn’t identify patients through fingertip recognition and needed a remote tool that was completely new. Our client came up with the idea of leveraging facial recognition to identify patients and their treatment background without the need to visit the healthcare center. They turned to Langate for the development of a web-based platform that can prevent identity verification issues and achieve their goals.

We developed a web-based platform that allows patients and personnel to go through the verification process directly on the website. Facial recognition is carried out through a web camera, and verifying the individual’s existing profile takes less than 30 seconds.
The client’s software has been used by numerous healthcare providers, research organizations, and pharmaceutical companies. It ensures that any number of users or devices can access the system at all times.
Our suggestion was to develop a mobile application in addition to the web platform. Many users prefer using mobile apps for various reasons. This idea was gladly approved by the client, so we created a cross-platform solution that works on both iOS and Android.
Langate cooperated with clinical professionals with over 50 years of experience to create a reliable and expansive registry that our client now uses. This registry helps retrieve the necessary information about patients and prevents the creation of duplicate, incomplete profiles.
Langate developed a solution that is based on the use of de-identified unique identification codes. It prevents duplicate registration and ensures the necessary data protection to comply with all HIPAA and GDPR requirements.
The last part of the solution we provided is full source code, which is hosted in the client-owned source code repository.
